First sights

First sights of Malvi/klands. Day 1. The landscape from above, many islands, yellow fields filled with ponds and lakes. Hills. Mounts. The airport: small, functional, a military warehouse recycled for its purpose. The road, some 70 kms, with alternate pavement and gravel. The landscape fro ground level: hilly, yellow grass, a few sheeps. No trees. Huge skies. The battleground mounts: very low. The city: small, clean, very tidy. Vivid colour roof tiles: furious reds and greens. Most houses are made in wood. Some few trees. Cars are Land Rover type. Like jeeps. The sea right in front, with the hilly opposite shore at sight. Very little contact with people, mostly from Chile. Everything lies ahead. So I go to sleep. End of day 1.
